The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has recently delivered a AI-enabled satellite imaging system, whihc will help boost the real-time decision-making capabilities of the security agencies, to the defence ministry.

Named ‘Prajna’, the system combines satellite imagery with advanced analytics to deliver real-time, actionable insights. It is expected to enhance the surveillance, intelligence gathering and operational capabilities of security agencies.

“The system is designed to significantly improve situational awareness and support faster, more accurate decision-making during critical operations,” The New Indian Express quoted an official as saying.

It is expected to play a critical role in supporting the country's counter-terror operations.

‘Prajna’ is set to play a crucial role in monitoring sensitive areas, tracking suspicious activity, and aiding counter-terrorism and border management operations.

The AI-powered system can analyse huge volumes of satellite data, detect patterns, and flag anomalies that may be missed by conventional systems, the TNIE report said.

'Prajna' is also expected to enhance coordination among security agencies, enabling a more integrated and efficient national security framework.

DRDO chief Samir V Kamat handed over the system, developed by Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR) of DRDO, to Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan.
