Tata Power now expects a little over Rs 1.25 lakh crore in capital expenditure between FY2026 and FY2030, the power arm of the Tata group announced in an update to investors on Monday. Out of this, close to 65 per cent would be spent on "Clean and Green" energy during the period, it added.

According to Tata Power, Rs 13,214 crore was the capex for FY2024 and Rs 17,273 crore was the capex for FY2025. From FY2026 through FY2030, Tata Power estimates capex of around Rs 25,000 crore per fiscal year. This amounted to a total of around Rs 1.25 lakh crore.

"Majority of the capital expenditure to be for non-regulated assets," Tata Power noted in its investor presentation, which denoted that only 11 per cent of the earmarked assets were expected to be regulated between FY2026 and FY2030.

Tata Power's estimates on its sustainable power, which it calls "Clean and Green", are ambitious. By 2030, Tata Power sees a 500GW target for installed non-fossil fuel-based capacity.

As of November 2025, the same was 251GW, with 130GW in solar, 54GW in wind, 51GW in hydro power, 11GW in biomass, and 5GW in small hydro power. In the pipeline are 148GW of projects in construction, and 101GW to be auctioned, the company stated.

Tata Power said that India's peak power demand would cross 450GW by 2032, and that energy storage was crucial to meet it.

For FY20205, Tata Power stated that it achieved a total capacity of about 15.7GW, including thermal capacity and 7GW of clean & green capacity. Transmission lines of 7,047Ckm were operational, and under construction during the period, and 12.8 million was the amount recorded against "distribution to customers.

For FY2030, Tata Power now expects more than 30GW of total capacity, more than 20GW and clean & green capacity, around 10,000Ckm in transmission lines, and 40 million distribution customers.
