In the light of the tragedy that shocked the country, Air India is offering  full money back to fliers who booked Ahmedabad flight tickets on or before 12 June 2025 Representational image

In the light of the Ahmedabad air tragedy, Air India has reportedly announced a one-time waiver on rescheduling and cancellation. Passengers who booked Air India flights on or before June 12 2025 for travel to or from Ahmedabad between 12–14 June 2025 are reportedly applicable for the waiver.

The aforementioned Air India fliers are now at the liberty to reschedule their travel without paying any additional charges or fare difference. There is news of relief for those reconsidering their travel plans in the light if the disaster. Passengers who decide not to make the trip will not have to pay any cancellation charges, as Air India will be waiving the full fee for cancelling their tickets.

Meanwhile, in a statement posted on social media platforms through the Tata Group account, N. Chandrasekharan stated, “At this moment, our primary focus is on supporting all the affected people and their families. We are doing everything in our power to assist the emergency response teams at the site and to provide all necessary support and care to those impacted.”

“Further updates will be shared as we receive more verified information. An emergency centre has been activated and support team have been set up for families seeking information,” added the Air India chairman.

“The flight, which departed from Ahmedabad at 1338 hrs, was carrying 242 passengers and crew members on board the Boeing 787-8 aircraft. Of these, 169 are Indian nationals, 53 are British nationals, 1 Canadian national and 7 Portuguese nationals,” stated Air India.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, operated by Adani Airports,  temporarily suspended operations following the crash, mere kilometres from the runway.

According to Air India, the Boeing 787-8 aircraft from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick was carrying 242 passengers and crew members. Of these, 169 were Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, seven Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian national.
