Major oil marketing companies in India have announced a cut in the prices of commercial LPG cylinders, effective from Tuesday. While the price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has been slashed by Rs 41, the rates of cylinders used for household cooking remain unchanged.
LPG prices vary from state to state, depending on local taxes and transportation costs. As per the revised rates, the price of a commercial LPG cylinder is now ₹1,762 in Delhi and ₹1,714.50 in Mumbai. The prices are slightly higher in Kolkata at ₹1,872 and in Chennai, it is ₹1,924.50.
The price in Lucknow is ₹840.50 while it is ₹1,779.50 in Gurgaon. While it is Rs 1,836.50 in Bangalore, Andaman & Nicobar recorded the highest at Rs ₹2,160. Bihar recorded Rs 2,014 while it ₹1,870 in Punjab.
The move has come as a huge relief to hotels and other food industries, which were reeling under a steep price hike announced last year. Last December, the prices were hiked by Rs 62, suggesting how volatile the prices were. Though solace came in the form of a price cut of Rs 7 in February, a revision followed in March where the price was increased by Rs 6.
Last year too, commercial LPG cylinder prices dropped for 4th straight month but there was no change for domestic users.
