OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is now worth $2 billion, according to Bloomberg Billionaires Index. However, his net worth does not include any contribution from his AI startup's valuation as he does not own any equity in the firm.

Altman's wealth can be traced to a number of VC funds and startup investments, according to Fortune.

The net worth is expected to grow in the coming months as he is one of the largest shareholders of Reddit, which is seeking up to $6.5 billion valuation in IPO, according sources cited by Reuters.

This comes after Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who co-founded OpenAI in 2015, sued Altman and the the AI startup for abandoning the company's original mission to develop Artificial Intelligence for the benefit of humanity, not profit.

Musk's lawsuit claims Altman and OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman reached out to him to make an open source non-profit company.
