Recently, Google had announced that it is laying off as many as 12,000 workers, with CEO Sundar Pichai saying the company had "hired for a different economic reality than the one we face today."

Gurugram-based Sagar Gilhotra, one of the Google employees who was laid off, took to LinkedIn to say how despite giving the company his best and working round-the-clock, he has been laid off.

"Yesterday, I received some news that I never thought I would- I was laid off from my position as a Strategic Partner Development Manager at Google India. At 8.34 pm IST, my life was turned upside down," he wrote.

Gilhotra said he had given his best to the company and even received bonuses for his hard work. “As a pro-Googler, I have always given my best to the company, and I was honoured to have received spot bonuses for my hard work. I worked round the clock to support my team and helped to scale YouTube live shopping in India. I also onboarded several top-notch market partners for Google, which helped to scale things to a new level,” he wrote.

"Despite my contributions, it's heartbreaking to see talented people being let go," he said. "But, as they say, every cloud has a silver lining. I am optimistic that this change will lead me down a new path of growth and self-discovery."

He thanked everyone who supported him during his time at Google. "Your kindness and encouragement mean more than words can express," he wrote.

He said with his post, he wants to let his LinkedIn family that he will be okay and that he will "rise again."

He said he will "take this loss and turn it into an opportunity to grow, to learn, and to build anew."

According to media reports, Google fired more than 450 employees as part of the global layoff that was announced. The layoff in India reportedly began on Thursday. Those who were laid off were informed about it via e-mail.
