Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, in a recent interview, came up with what comes across as a sensible advise to people at a time when the world economy is possibly staring at a recession. His advice has also come just before Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which is the online shopping equivalent to Black Friday.

In an interview to CNN, the billionaire businessman asked people in America to stay away from big-ticket purchases and "take some risks off the table."

"If you are an individual considering to purchase a big-screen TV, you might want to wait, hold onto your money, and see what transpires. The same is true with a new automobile, refrigerator, or whatever else," Bezos said. He also suggested that people stay away from purchasing homes and appliances for now.

Even as Amazon is planning to layoff 10,000 people in the coming days, Bezos observed that the "" and people are seeing "layoffs in many many sectors of the economy."

"Take as much risk off the table as you can. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst," he told people.

However, not all are impressed with the advice.

Tech journalist Mike Elgan chose to interpret Bezos' as saying that people should not go for purchasing things that are not available on Amazon.

He tweeted: "Bezos urged people to put off expenditures for big-ticket items such as new cars, televisions and appliances."

When a user pointed out that Amazon also sells cars and TVs, Elgan asked, "Yeah, but realistically how many people buy their cars on Amazon."

Another journalist, Phoebe Wall Howard of The Detroit Free Press pointed out that the auto industry has been struggling with supply chain issues for the past three years.

"The auto industry, one of our nation's key economic drivers, has struggled with supply chain hell for 3 years.

Jeff Bezos told CNN 11/15 people should hold off buying cars. Note: Amazon specializes in auto campaigns, which have included @Ford @Toyota @VW @Nissan @freep," she said in a tweet.
