The 'Profile Transfer' feature of Netflix, allowing users to transfer their existing profile, including settings, recommendations, and viewing history, to a new account has now been permitted in India.
Netflix has begun informing users in India about this feature, which was launched earlier this week, via email.
Users can now seamlessly transfer everything they have in their current profile which they share with someone else—— keeping the personalised recommendations, viewing history, My List, saved games, and other settings — when they start their own membership.
How to do Profile Transfer in Netflix?
"To transfer a profile, go to the “Transfer Profile” option when you hover over your profile icon in the dropdown menu on the homepage — then simply follow the instructions," a directive from the streaming giant read.
To do this, sign into the account you currently use (on a web browser).
Go to the 'Profiles and Parental Controls' section and select the account that you wish to start a new account.
Find ‘Transfer this profile’ option in the section and click ‘Transfer’.
The Netflix account owner that you currently share your profile with will be sent link. A copy of your profile in this account will be retained.
You will now have to provide the new e-mail and password and follow the guidelines on the screen to finish setting up your new account.
Netflix said users can always turn off Profile Transfer in the account settings at any time.
