The Uttar Pradesh government has been focusing on a swift economic revival amidst the pandemic. Under the Atma Nirbhar package, 4.37 lakh Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) units have been given loans of Rs 11,000 crore, said Navneet Sehgal, the Principal Secretary for MSME in the state.

In addition, to solve all GST-related problems, the MSME Saathi app and the msmesaathi.in website are offering quick solutions to businesses.

The stated objective of the website and the app is for entrepreneurs to “communicate problems and suggestions" related to the “operations and other activities of their industrial units to the government.

"The Uttar Pradesh Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Export Promotion Department will coordinate with other concerned departments to ensure that issues are resolved. The purpose of this application is to assist entrepreneurs of Uttar Pradesh and promote industrialization in the state," the website states.

In addition, the government is promoting the "MSME Saksham" app to enable MSMEs to be loan ready, the "CHAMPIONS" app for the "creation and harmonious application of modern processes for increasing the output and national strength) and "MSME Samadhan" which is a delayed payment monitoring system.

“The government is conducting special drives to encourage people to set up enterprises”, said Sehgal.

He also added that so far 6.63 lakh new MSME units had been granted loans of Rs 20,073 crores and this had led to employment opportunities for 25 lakh people.

The government had recently notified a new MSME (Establishment and Operations) Act that cut down the need for 80 kinds of NOCs (No Objection Certificates) from 29 different departments. This has been replaced by a single-window clearance system. In addition, an electricity connection of 20kW would be provided within three days of filing an application. A new enterprise will receive clearance within 72 hours under the amendment. In the first 1,000 days of setting up the enterprise, no further paperwork shall be required.

Sehgal also added that, so far, four lakh jobs had been provided in the government system in a transparent manner.
