Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra was a proud boss as he shared the video of Pope Francis traveling in a Mahindra KUV100 during the latter's recent visit to Mozambique on Thursday. An elated Mahindra took to Twitter to share the video.

"His Holiness, the Pope travelling in a Mahindra KUV100 in Mozambique. A moment of pride and immense honour for all of us. Our distributor in Maputo supported the Pope’s Feed the Project and earned this honour. You always Rise when you do good... (sic)," Mahindra tweeted sharing the video.

In the video, the pope can be seen enthusiatically waving at people on both sides of the streets. Pope Francis was on his first full-day visit to Mozambique on Thursday. His maiden visit to the poor southeast African country comes after the government and the former rebel group Renamo, now the main opposition party, signed a historic treaty.

Further, Mahindra also shared an event from the past when Pope Paul VI visited India in 1964 for the Eucharistic Congress and chose "an open-top Mahindra UV" to greet followers on the streets of Mumbai. "We have been honoured to provide the ‘Popemobile’ once before. When the Pople visited Mumbai for the Eucharistic Congress in 1964 he rode in an open-top Mahindra UV. That vehicle today occupies pride of place in our auto museum in Kandivli. This KUV also belongs there!" Mahindra said in another tweet.

Mahindra had recently refreshed the KUV100, a micro-SUV, with new looks. The KUV100 NXT boasts a 77hp and 190Nm, 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder diesel motor. The motor is paired with a 5-speed manual and claims a mileage of 25kmpl.
