To Serve is to Serve Humanity

It is a story of what good parenting can do for the next generation. When you sow the seeds of service in young minds and walk the talk, the result is a considerate, caring, and sensitive adult, willing to serve in whatever capacity they can.

Dr R.D. Singh, a renowned surgeon in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, devoted his whole life to the service of poor patients, charging only Rs 10 as his consultancy fees, which he does even today. That, too, was to ensure people with low incomes could pay for their treatment with dignity.

When his son, Anand Singh, was born in 1973, he saw from his childhood his father’s practice and how he treated his patients. This etched in his mind and soul that the greatest happiness is in serving.

Early Days

Anand Singh was good in his studies from the beginning. After passing Class VIII from Jyoti Niketan School in Azamgarh and Class XII from Wesley Inter College in 1992, he joined Sri BM Patil Medical College, Bijapur, Karnataka. He obtained an MBBS degree in the year 1996 from the same college.

He is an observant and sincere student even today. Dr Anand Singh holds a DCH and FCGP degree. He hopes to go for higher studies and a Diploma in Family Medicine from England, besides a Diploma in Cosmetology and Trichology.

Dr Ananad believes it is important to understand one can study well before starting a private practice. One can continue to learn, but time challenges are always best planned. He believed that his patients would benefit from his pursuing higher education. It is not a doctor’s future that depends on his patients, but the patient’s future depends on the doctor.

Today, this approach of his is appreciated by friends in the medical world of the state. He is now Lucknow’s respected and sought-after paediatrician, general physician, and cosmetology dermatologist.

But his services during the coronavirus period earned him accolades and honour. He was honoured by the Defence Minister of the Government of India, Rajnath Singh, at a programme organised by the Lucknow Intellectual Foundation in May 2022.

Dr Anand Singh learnt the traits of serving humanity from his father, who energised him to work fearlessly and unassumingly, providing better treatment during COVID-19. No wonder Anand emerged as a coronavirus warrior, which enhanced his respect in the medical world in the state.
