Hailing from a small village, where higher education itself is a distant dream, and from such a place, getting an opportunity to closely witness the entire day-to-day happenings at an institution like IIT Mumbai for these many days, is something which I could never have dreamt of. IIT has just been inconceivable to me but thanks to Jashpur District Administration, for giving wings to my ambition, for now not only cracking JEE is my aim but I am confident that I can do it, said a student from Jashpur, in a rather emotional gesture while sharing his experience about the Mumbai tour.

In what could be a commendable initiative, IAS officer Dr. Ravi Mittal, currently serving as the District Collector of Jashpur, Chhattisgarh, has gone above and beyond the call of duty, quite literally. A step that has up-surged a lot of positive energy among children of the district, whereby 32 students of Sankalp Educational Institute, including 2 children from Pahadi-Korwa Primitive vulnerable tribal group have recently got an opportunity of visiting IIT Mumbai.

Jashpur District Administration, played a critical role in this first of its kind initiative, from where all 32 children returned with new enthusiasm, inspiration, and confidence. The children while sharing their experience with Jashpur MLA Vinay Bhagat, Zila-Panchayat CEO Jitendra Yadav, Principal of Sankalp, Vinod Gupta and other teachers, told that education is the key to making life a grand success and we shall put the best of our efforts. Under Mumbai-darshan, they visited various, informative places and educational institutions, including Energy Lab, technical labs, CTARA Lab, Bamboo Handcraft workshop, Digitized Library and Robotics lab in IIT.

Santu Ram and Ramnarayan Ram, two children belonging to the Pahadi-Korwa Primitive vulnerable tribal group, expressed their joy and told that it was really a great experience to visit Mumbai for the first time. It is very important to follow the time-discipline in order to do well in studies, only then can we move forward. All the children heartily thanked the Jashpur District Administration for organising this wonderful tour.

These children currently preparing to secure admission at India’s premium educational institutions had this 6-day tour from 7th to 12th December. After analysing the education scenario in the district and considering the significant role good education can play in improving the standard of living, the collector envisaged this educational tour for their intellectual development and to advance the district's children in the field of higher-education. And, so he did.

Reflecting upon the idea behind this education trip the Dr.Ravi Mittal told the students that, your visit shall indeed be beneficial for broadening the scope of your thinking, so prepare yourself in such a way that you get the opportunity to study at the premium Indian educational institutions and fulfil your goals. He further asked the children to share the experiences and knowledge which they have gained during this tour, with their fellow students and friends. He also thanked the professors of IIT Mumbai including Prof.Dr.Bakul Rao, Prof. Anand Rao, Dr.Sushma Kulkarni, sitara department, etc.

In the coming four months, the entrance tests for admissions in IIT, NEET and other national institutions are going to be conducted. For this purpose, Jashpur District Administration organised this educational tour, so that students may get inspired and work harder. The impact of such innovative initiatives reflects in improved learning outcomes in the students who will excel in their creativity, innovation and dedication to study, which will ultimately bear meritorious results
