Former team India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has taken on former Gujarat top cop Sanjiv Bhatt, who in a Facebook post, asked why there are no Muslims in Indian cricket team.

In his social media post, Bhatt asked: "Is there any Muslim cricketer in the Indian cricket team? How many times has it happened since Independence that team India has no Muslim representation? Have all the Muslims stopped playing cricket or have the selectors been following rules of a different game?”

Some of team India's finest players have been Muslims, including Mohammad Azharuddin, Mohammad Kaif and the Pathan brothers—Irfan and Yusuf . Bhatt's claim is without basis as India's Twenty20 squad against New Zealand include pacer Mohammed Siraj.

Unwilling to take kindly to the unfounded claim by Bhatt, Harbhajan Singh took to Twitter. In a tweet that has now been widely shared, the former cricketer said every cricketer who plays for India is an Indian and their race or religion should not be questioned.

Sanjiv Bhatt is yet to come up with a response to Singh's angry tweet.
