Prime Minister Narendra Modi is among the top political leaders in the world who are popular and influential on social networking sites. From inviting leaders to be chief guest at the Republic day parade to wishing on their birthdays, Modi keeps his presence on social media engaging.
However, Modi, committed a faux pas on Friday, when he wished Afghanistan president Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai a 'happy birthday,' when it was not his actual birthday.
“Happy birthday @ashrafghani. Praying for your long life & exceptional health and a joyful journey ahead,” Modi tweeted.
What added more embarrassment to the entire episode his Ahmadzai's reply. He replied to Modi's tweet with a 'thank you', while informing it was not his birthday today.
“@narendramodi Greetings from Munich Mr. PM. Although, my Birthday is on 19th May, but I'd still like to thank you for your gracious words :),” Ahmadzai tweeted in response.
The prime minister's small goof up in his regular diplomatic outreach efforts, provided enough reason for Twitter users to troll him.

Many even wondered if the staff of prime minister, who is responsible for his social networking sites, decided to wish Ahmadzai based on a Google search results.
According to Google, February 12, 1949, is the birthday of Ahmadzai.
The embarrassment could have been avoided, had the PMO staff relied on their diplomatic channels to confirm Ahmadzai's birth date, instead of depending on simple internet search.
Well, we hope the PMO staff has learnt a lesson.
