Delhi police on Friday issued an alert after the driver of a taxi hired from Pathankot was found dead in Kangra in Himachal Pradesh. The taxi in question is missing.
The Delhi police also tweeted the alert with details of missing car number.
A white colour Alto Taxi (HP 01D 2440) was hired from Pathankot by three unknown people. The driver of the taxi identified as Vijay Kumar was found dead at the Kalta Bridge in Kangra on Wednesday.
In view of upcoming Republic day celebrations, police have been on high alert since a SUV, bearing Chandigarh registration number (CH01GA2915), belonging to a senior border police officer was stolen on Wednesday. The SUV was owned by Anand Swarup, the Inspector General of the Indo Tibetan Border Police, and it went missing from his Noida residence.
However, the missing cars is seemingly perceived as a serious security threat since terrorists used a stolen official car in Pathankot strike last month.
The security in the nation capital has been beefed up for the Republic day celebrations even as defence forces conducted a series of mock drills as part of security measures.
