Union sports minister Vijay Goel's tweet on Friday, commenting about Dangal actress Zaira Wasim, was strongly repudiated by the 16 year old actress.
In the tweet, Goel posted the photo of a woman in hijab and wrote, "This painting tells a story similar to Zaira Wasim. More power to our daughters." In response, Wasim tweeted that she disagreed and requested him not to connect her with such discourteous depictions. "Moreover, the story depicted through this painting is not even remotely relevant to mine."
This painting tells a story similar to @zairawasim, पिंजरा तोड़ कर हमारी बेटियां बढ़ने लगी हैं आगे | More power to our daughters!

The minister replied, "You have interpreted wrong. I appreciated your work and stated that evil and patriarchal notions must be discouraged. I am afraid you still haven't understood. But I wish you all the very best and appreciate your work. Hope to meet & interact too."
Just a few days before, Zaira had come in the eye of the storm after she posted an apology on social after meeting Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti. The media had speculated that the extremist elements in Kashmir were behind the sudden apology by the child star, who rose to fame after her part in the movie Dangal.
