Lucknow, Nov 6 (PTI) The office of Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) will seek co-operation from various government departments, as well as social, professional, and non-governmental organisations to ensure inclusion of 100 per cent of eligible citizens in the electoral rolls, a senior official said.

In a statement issued here on Friday, Uttar Pradesh CEO Navdeep Rinwa said that as part of the Special Summary Revision-2027 of the assembly electoral rolls, all District Election Officers are directed to co-ordinate with the office-bearers of organisations and institutions to organise registration camps during special campaign days and other appropriate occasions.

The objective is to maximise public participation in the campaign to ensure that 100 per cent of eligible citizens in the state are included in the electoral rolls. To achieve this, co-operation is to be sought from various government departments, as well as social, professional, and non-governmental organisations, he said.

Rinwa further explained that efforts should be made to register eligible citizens by co-ordinating with Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs), private industrial establishments, Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), district and tehsil bar associations, lawyers' organisations, civil defence organisations, labour unions, trade associations, and medical associations.

Special registration camps will be organised at workplaces to facilitate the inclusion of eligible employees from public sector undertakings and industrial establishments into the electoral rolls.

Additionally, with the support of RWAs, registration drives will be conducted in residential societies, multi-story apartment complexes, and colonies to enrol new residents, first-time young voters, and any other eligible citizens who have not yet been registered, the statement said.

Similarly, with assistance of civil defence volunteers, eligible citizens who have been left out will be identified in urban areas, densely populated neighbourhoods, and slums.

Through labour unions, workers from both the organised and unorganised sectors, including those in factories, industrial zones, and construction sites, as well as contractual and daily-wage employees, will be registered, it said.

Meetings will be held with trade and business associations to encourage their active participation in voter awareness and registration efforts.

Furthermore, in collaboration with the Indian Medical Association (IMA), private hospitals, nursing homes, and medical institutions, registration camps will be organised on their premises, and awareness programs will be conducted in slums and remote areas.

Instructions have also been issued to seek the co-operation of current and former village heads (Gram Pradhans) and municipal councillors to help include eligible citizens in the electoral rolls, it said.

Likewise, the support of social workers and prominent, respected citizens will be enlisted to identify eligible individuals, both in rural and urban areas, who are not yet on the electoral rolls, and to encourage them to register as voters.
