Jaipur, Nov 6 (PTI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Friday directed officials to prepare a plan to make key stretches of Jaipur's JLN Marg signal-free to ease traffic congestion in the city.
Chairing a review meeting of the Jaipur Development Authority, Sharma said the city's development should take into account both current and future requirements.
He directed officials to prepare a comprehensive traffic improvement plan, giving priority to pedestrian safety and adequate parking facilities.
The chief minister also asked Chief Secretary V Srinivas and other senior officials to visit the identified locations and assess the traffic situation before finalising the plan.
Sharma said Jaipur should be developed into a model city through better infrastructure and planned urban development.
Reviewing the proposed Hi-Tech City project, he said Jaipur's proximity to Delhi and the presence of Rajasthani communities across India and abroad offered opportunities for investment and development.
He directed officials to develop the Hi-Tech City project according to a model that provides modern technology and world-class infrastructure.
The chief minister also reviewed the Medicity project.
He said the Hi-Tech City and Medicity projects should be developed in a manner that they become the identity of a "New Jaipur".
Sharma directed officials to fix clear timelines for all development projects and regularly monitor their progress, according to an official statement.
He warned that unnecessary delays and negligence would not be tolerated and strict action would be taken against officials responsible for lapses.
Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Akhil Arora, Additional Chief Secretary (Urban Development and Housing) Alok Gupta, Principal Secretary (Finance) Vaibhav Galriya and JDA Commissioner Siddharth Mahajan attended the meeting.
