Hyderabad, Nov 2 (PTI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday directed the officials concerned to take all necessary measures to transform Hyderabad into a clean and traffic-free city.
The Chief Minister, who held a review meeting with municipal officials instructed the authorities to ensure that no garbage is visible anywhere in the city and emphasized the need for continuous monitoring of waste collection, an official release said.
The officials briefed the Chief Minister on the strict enforcement of door-to-door waste collection every day and the strict action taken against those found negligent.
Reddy called for special arrangements to be made for the removal of construction debris and suggested coordinating with the Industries wing to ensure waste collection within those zones.
He advised officials to create awareness about the effective use of 'Green Tankers'—which supply treated water from Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs)—for construction activities, park maintenance, landscaping and gardening across the city.
Noting that drinking water is currently being used for construction, maintenance of greenery, and the development of parks, the CM instructed the officials to stop the supply of drinking water for non potable needs and use only treated water from STPs instead.
As the Water Board has already initiated a service using 28 'green water' (treated wastewater) tankers, sourced from 19 STPs, as a first phase, Reddy suggested expanding the supply of green water to areas under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), as well as those under the CMC (Cyberabad Municipal Corporation ) and MMC (Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation ) limits.
Reviewing the increasing traffic challenges, he also directed officials to take necessary measures to address traffic congestion and transform the city into a 'traffic-free' urban space.
He emphasized the need for effective traffic regulation and instructed officials to prepare plans for the construction of underpasses and elevated corridors to establish a signal-free system.
The CM stressed that the traffic flow should remain uninterrupted ensuring that vehicles do not get held up at signals for a long time, the release added.
