Prayagraj, May 27 (PTI) The Allahabad High Court has directed the Uttar Pradesh government to give one per cent reservation to NCC B grade certificate-holders.
The court, in its order on Tuesday, also directed the National Testing Agency to notify the candidates before the rescheduled test by email, inviting them to upload their certificates.
With the direction, the bench comprising Justice Arindam Sinha and Justice Satya Veer Singh disposed of a petition filed by Saksham Srivastava, who is appearing in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)-UG 2026.
Earlier, NCC candidates with a C certificate were eligible for one per cent reservation in the state.
"To us, it appears that the reservation provided in this State is illusory. This is because a candidate seeking to get admission to a course for graduation being required to produce a C certificate of the grade, a certificate that can only be achieved on graduation is effectively rendering the reservation unworkable," the court observed.
