Port Blair, July 8 (PTI) Andaman and Nicobar State Cooperative Bank Ltd (ANSCBL) director K. Subramanian and tour operator M Sajid were arrested in connection with a loan irregularities case, police said on Tuesday.
Andaman and Nicobar Islands SSP Jitendra Kumar Meena said the duo was arrested on Monday night.
"Further investigation is on. They shall be produced before the CJM court later in the day," he added.
Seven people have so far been arrested in the case, including ANSCBL managing director K. Murugan.
He said, "Subramanian, a resident of Maccapahad, and Sajid from Junglighat in Port Blair were arrested under various sections of the BNS."
On May 15, an FIR was lodged against the vice-chairman of the bank and former Congress MP Kuldeep Rai Sharma in connection with the same irregularities.
"During investigations, we found a few money trails to the bank accounts of a driver (employee of one of the accused in the bank loan scam), a tea stall owner at Chouldari in Port Blair and a mechanic. We are exploring all angles," police added.
There are allegations that the managing committee of the ANSCBL overlooked the recommendations of the loan screening committee and ignored the CIBIL report and mandatory documents while sanctioning loans, a police source said.
Other people arrested in the case are bank employee Kalaivanan, Bablu Halder (director of Andaman Mormon Infrastructure Private Limited), Tarun Mondal (director Blair Enterprises Private Limited) and Ajay Minz (director Andaman Treepie Adventure Private Limited).
