Mumbai, Nov 6 (PTI) Naval defence firm and maritime systems provider TKMS has signed a joint venture pact with domestic engineering company CFF Fluid Control Ltd to build indigenous industrial capability across anti-submarine warfare and underwater defence systems.
In the JV, CFF Fluid Control will hold a 51 per cent stake and Germany-based TKMS will have the remaining 49 per cent, a statement said.
It will have its registered office in Mumbai while the dedicated manufacturing and integration operations will be carried out from a purpose-built electronics and systems facility in Chakan near Pune in Maharashtra, CFF Fluid Control said.
The joint venture marks the next stage of a partnership developed progressively since the Teaming Agreement signed in 2023, the statement said.
The Kiel (Germany)-based TKMS has three shipyards - Kiel, Wismar and Itajaà (Brazil) and is active as a systems supplier for submarines and naval surface vessels as well as for maritime electronics and security technologies.
On the other hand, Mumbai-based CFF Fluid Control designs, manufactures, integrates and sustains naval systems for the Indian Navy and its shipyards.
It has supplied and supported the Indian Navy's submarine and surface fleets on more than 60 vessels across 11 programs, with various system types ranging from fluid control, high-pressure air, hydraulic and steering systems to weapon handling, stealth and underwater communication, the company said.
"With this joint venture, we are taking our strategic partnership with CFF Fluid Control Limited to the next level and underlining our long-term commitment to the Indian Navy and India's defence industry," said Michael Ozegowski, Executive Vice President at TKMS.
The collaboration is creating a strong local base for indigenous anti-submarine warfare solutions in full support of the 'Make in India' initiative, he added.
"By bringing together TKMS's proven underwater-defence technology and CFF's engineering and manufacturing strengths, we aim to build enduring Indian capability, rather than simply transfer technology. We recognise the responsibility that comes with this trust and are committed to living up to it," said Sunil Menon, Managing Director of CFF Fluid Control Limited.
