Jaipur, Oct 30 (PTI) The Rajasthan government on Friday approved a three percentage point increase in dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) for state government employees and pensioners, raising the rates from 60 per cent to 63 per cent.

Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma approved the hike as a Diwali gift to employees and pensioners, according to an official statement.

The decision will benefit over seven lakh government employees and more than five lakh pensioners.

The revised DA and DR under the Seventh Pay Commission will be effective from July 1, 2026.

Employees will receive the increased DA in cash with their November salary, payable in December, while arrears for the four-month period from July to October will be deposited in their General Provident Fund (GPF) accounts.

Pensioners will receive the enhanced DR in cash with effect from July 1, the statement said.

The DA and DR hike will impose an additional financial burden of Rs 820 crore on the state exchequer.

The government has also decided to provide an ad hoc bonus to around six lakh eligible employees, entailing an additional expenditure of Rs 406 crore.

Sharma said the state government remained committed to safeguarding the interests and welfare of employees and pensioners, describing government employees as an important pillar of development and good governance.
