Ranchi, Oct 29 (PTI) The Jharkhand government on Thursday signed an agreement with Choice Consultancy Services Pvt Ltd, a new system integrator, to enhance revenue collection capacity and curb leakage, an official said.
The agreement was signed here in the presence of State Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore.
“The objective of this agreement is to make the functioning of the Commercial Tax Department more effective, transparent, and technology-based. Through the new system, significant steps will be taken toward strengthening tax administration, simplifying processes, and enhancing efficiency in departmental operations,” Kishore said in a post on X in Hindi.
Kishore stressed the need to enhance the state's revenue collection capacity to strengthen financial self-reliance.
He also claimed that the economic policies of the central government were causing losses to the tune of “around Rs 22,000 crore” to Jharkhand.
“The MMDR Act is resulting in an economic loss of around Rs 14,000 crore to the state. Additionally, Jharkhand is incurring losses of around Rs 4,000 crore each due to GST reforms and a reduction in grants under the MGNREGA scheme,” the minister alleged.
Commercial-Tax Commissioner-cum-Secretary Amit Kumar said the new system integrator will develop an 'Integrated Revenue Intelligence System' (IRIS) by establishing inter-departmental integration.
