New Delhi, Oct 29 (PTI) Delhi Lieutenant Governor T S Sandhu on Thursday asked government departments to complete the reform measures aimed at improving ease of doing business through deregulation by the end of November.

Sandhu chaired a meeting to review the progress under phase 2 of the reform process, officials said.

"The LG noted that while significant progress had been made under Phase-I, implementation of Phase-II reforms was continuing, with most of the 28 identified goals achieved. He directed departments to expedite work on outstanding action points and ensure their completion within the revised deadline," according to an official statement.

The latest meeting came weeks after a review meeting held on August 21.

At the previous meeting, Sandhu emphasised that deregulation was a high-priority initiative driven by the Prime Minister's Office and stressed that Delhi must keep pace with other states in implementing reforms.

"Departments had been instructed to complete identified measures well before the August 31 deadline and provide specific timelines for notifying pending priority areas," the statement added.

Phase 1 of the exercise, launched in January 2025 with 23 priority areas, has seen 22 areas completed, compared with 17 at the time of the previous review. The remaining measure, relating to rationalisation of the minimum road width requirement for industries in rural areas, is expected to be finalised shortly.

The urbanisation of 48 rural villages has also been completed, with the corresponding Gazette notification published, officials informed the meeting.

"Phase-2, launched in January 2026, covers 23 priority areas and five optional priority areas. The status report presented at the meeting, as of October 28, showed that most of the identified measures had been completed, with the remaining reforms at advanced stages of implementation," the statement added.
