A 25-year-old student from Telangana’s Kamareddy district was found dead in the UK under mysterious circumstances. S Srinath Reddy, who had gone to London for higher studies, was found dead in his room on June 23.
Reddy’s family, who hail from Talamadla village in Tadvai Mandal of Telangana, is now seeking the Centre’s intervention for the repatriation of his body.
Srinath Reddy moved to the UK about 14 months ago to pursue a master’s degree at De Montfort University in Leicester.
A GoFundMe page made by his cousins said the fundraiser was intended to help meet the costs of bringing his mortal remains back to India.
Madhusudan Reddy, Srinath’s father, said that the family was still awaiting clarity on how his son died.
"We still do not know what exactly happened. We request the Central and Telangana governments to help bring our son's body back home at the earliest," he said.’
He said that his son had spoken to the family on the night of June 22 and said that the conversation was normal,
Srinath Reddey later attended a birthday party the same night.
A family relative whose son lives in London said that Reddy’s roommate found him dead on the morning of June 23.
A family relative said that the roommate claimed Reddy allegedly died by suicide.
The roommate also informed others of his death only later, according to a family member.
The family has appealed to both the central and Telangana governments to intervene and bring back his body at the earliest. They requested that they coordinate with British authorities to ascertain the circumstances surrounding his death.
