Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre confirmed on Monday that he received a message from US President Donald Trump saying that he no longer felt an obligation to think of peace after getting denied a Nobel prize.
"Dear Jonas: Since your country decided not to award me the Nobel Peace Prize for stopping eight wars, I no longer feel an obligation to think exclusively about peace, although it will always be dominant, but can now think about what is good and right for the United States," the message, which was sent over the weekend, read.
NEW: @potus letter to @jonasgahrstore links @NobelPrize to Greenland, reiterates threats, and is forwarded by the NSC staff to multiple European ambassadors in Washington. I obtained the text from multiple officials:

Dear Ambassador:
President Trump has asked that the…
He also added that he sought complete and total control of Greenland.
“Denmark cannot protect that land from Russia or China, and why do they have a ‘right of ownership’ anyway? There are no written documents; it’s only that a boat landed there hundreds of years ago, but we had boats landing there, also. I have done more for Nato than any other person since its founding, and now, Nato should do something for the United States. The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland. Thank you! President DJT,” he said.
This is not the first time Trump lashed out at Norway for not giving him a Nobel prize. However, it is to be noted that the Nobel prize is decided by an independent committee in Oslo, not the Norwegian state.
The Norwegian PM also confirmed the authenticity of the letter to VG, a Norwegian newspaper.
“This is a message I received yesterday afternoon from President Trump. It came in response to a short message to President Trump from me earlier in the day, on behalf of myself and the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb,” he said to the newspaper.
The message was also reportedly shared with other leaders in the NATO countries as per Trump's choice.
Støre received the message just barely a day after several European leaders gathered fro crisis meeting on recent moves made by Trump.
The US president has been zeroing in on his attention on Greenland and on obtaining it for the US.
Trump has repeatedly campaigned for the Nobel prize and has repeatedly claimed that he stopped at least 8 wars, a fact that been disputed by analysts.
Last year's prize was given to Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado. Machado ended up gifting her prize to Trump. The move was criticised by the Nobel committee, which stated that the prize was not transferable.
