Plans were underway to help US President Donald Trump return for a third term in 2028, former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon said on Thursday.
Bannon added that this included plans to circumvent the 22nd Amendment, which prohibits presidents—who have been elected twice—from being elected for a third term in office.
“Trump is gonna be president ’28 so people just ought to get accommodated with that," he told The Economist.
“There’s many different alternatives. At the appropriate time, we’ll lay out what the plan is, but there’s a plan and President Trump will be the president in ’28," he added in the interview.
This follows many such claims from the Trump administration about a third term, including his own.
Trump on Sunday even posted a video on Truth Social referencing not just a third term in 2028, but a presidency continuing years past 2032.

Trump earlier said in a March interview with NBC News that there are "methods" by which it could work.
He agreed that one such scenario would be where Vice President J.D. Vance ran for president, and then stepped down later to make way for him.
He added that there were other methods for him to get his third term, but declined to say what they were.
Constitutional lawyer Laurence Tribe confirmed in an X post that the 22nd Amendment had this loophole due to its wording.
"The 22d dsn’t bar *serving* a 3d term, only being *elected* 3 times. The 12th dsn’t bar running for VP unless “ineligible” to serve as Pres, but Trump isn’t ineligible," he pointed out. However, he has not yet highlighted any other loopholes in the legislation.
Anyone discounting a 3d Trump term per the 22d am + the 12th am is thinking magically: The 22d dsn’t bar *serving* a 3d term, only being *elected* 3 times. The 12th dsn’t bar running for VP unless “ineligible” to serve as Pres, but Trump isn’t ineligible. QED!
