In a scathing post on social media on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump demanded an immediate investigation into what he termed as “three sinister events” at the United Nations headquarters during his visit earlier this week.

Trump blasted the UN over these incidents, saying the organisation should be ashamed of itself.

“A REAL DISGRACE took place at the United Nations yesterday — Not one, not two, but three very sinister events!,” he wrote on his Truth Social platform.

The President claimed that the first incident took place when the escalator going up to the main speaking floor came to a screeching halt soon after he, along with First Lady Melania Trump, stepped onto it.

"It stopped on a dime. It's amazing that Melania and I didn't fall forward onto the sharp edges of these steel steps, face first. It was only that we were each holding the handrail tightly or, it would have been a disaster. This was absolutely sabotage," Trump said.

Trump noted a “post” appeared in the London Times that said UN workers had “joked about turning off an escalator”. The President demanded the immediate arrest of those behind the incident.

The second incident, according to Trump, was the alleged malfunctioning of the teleprompter.

“As I stood before a television crowd of millions of people all over the world, and important leaders in the hall, my teleprompter didn’t work,” the President alleged, adding that he had to make the speech without a teleprompter.

“The good news is the speech has gotten fantastic reviews. Maybe they appreciated the fact that very few people could have done what I did,” he said in the post.

The third event, Trump claimed, was when he was told that the sound in the auditorium where he made the speech was completely off, and the world leaders, unless they used the interpreters’ earpieces, couldn’t hear anything.

“The first person I saw at the conclusion of the speech was Melania, who was sitting right up front. I said, ‘how did I do?’ and she said, ‘I couldn’t hear a word you said’,” the President alleged.

Terming these incidents as “triple sabotage”, Trump demanded an immediate investigation and action against those who are responsible.

“I’m sending a copy of this letter to the Secretary General, and I demand an immediate investigation. No wonder the United Nations hasn’t been able to do the job that they were put in existence to do,” he mocked.

The President further demanded that all security tapes at the escalator, especially the emergency stop button, be saved, and informed that he has involved the Secret Service in this investigation.
