As the investigation into the assassination of MAGA firebrand Charlie Kirk progresses, a Turning Point USA (TPUSA) spokesman has revealed that their security team did not have jurisdiction over the rooftop from where alleged shooter Tyler Robinson opened fire.

Tyler, 22, allegedly shot Charlie Kirk, 31, from a vantage point on the roof of the Losee Center at Utah Valley University. This sparked questions about the security team's failure in monitoring the rooftop and spotting the shooter.

No jurisdiction on rooftop

TPUSA spokesman Andrew Kolvet, who is the executive producer of The Charlie Kirk Show, opened up during the Wednesday episode, saying, "In defense of our security team, people need to understand that they do not have jurisdiction on the rooftops or the surrounding area."

Kolvet clarified that when Kirk speaks on any campus, their only jurisdiction is his physical proximity. He recalled that they coordinated with the local police department and the campus police to ensure that necessary security measures were in place.

Lacked counter snipers

The Charlie Kirk Show producer Blake Neff said the TPUSA security team also did not have counter snipers or Secret Service to the monitor the area that is outside Kirk's immediate vicinity.

Kolvet said many campus police departments lack drone programmes, admitting that it "is a big problem".

"I'm actually working on that because it's something they should all have. It should be mandated by some sort of law. … So anyway, just in quick defense of the security, they're only allowed to protect his immediate vicinity. They have to rely on PD to secure the larger perimeter," he added.
