Internet trolls had a field day when former Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot were caught cuddling on the kiss cam at a Coldplay concert in Boston last month. The video, in addition to the endless memes, trolls, and jokes, also led to intense public scrutiny. As a result, Astronomer placed both Byron and Cabot on leave and initiated an internal investigation. Byron subsequently resigned as CEO, while Kristin Cabot also eventually gave up her position as Chief People Officer.
Later, Byron was forced to disable comments on his LinkedIn profile, and his wife, Megan Kerrigan, removed her last name from her Facebook account. She also left their family home in Massachusetts and is now staying at another property they own in Maine, keeping a low profile.
Fresh scandal involving the Kerrigans
It is now being said that Megan has come up with another allegation against the troubled multimillionaire, claiming that he spent no less than $40,000 (₹33.28 lakhs) on video calls with OnlyFans creator Sophie Rain. The video interactions were "explicit," and Megan Kerrigan was reportedly able to produce private messages between her estranged husband and the 20-year-old model. One such leaked message reportedly caught Andy Byron telling Rain, "All good. Most guys I talk to are married." To which Rain replied, "Okay, call me in 5 mins" with a winky face emoticon. It was a portal called The Blast that revealed the exchange in late July.
OPINION | Should kiss cams be banned after the Coldplay incident?
According to reports, Sophie Rain is not someone who usually engages in conversations like these. However, she did sympathise with Megan Kerrigan and offered her support. "I don't disclose my donors, but I am here for his wife if she needs a friend through these times. I know this type of thing can be hard. If she has any issues at all during this time of uncertainty, she can reach out to me. I would love to talk to her and reassure her that this guy is just a bump in the road," she was quoted as saying.
Who is Sophie Rain?
Sophie Rain, a native of Miami, Florida, was born to a white father and a Filipino mother. She made news in late 2024 when private content from her OnlyFans account was leaked online. This development came not long after she disclosed a screenshot of her OnlyFans dashboard, revealing the astonishing returns she was making from the website. By February 2025, she claimed to have made over $50 million in net profit from the adult streaming platform.
Before switching to OnlyFans, Sophie Rain was popular on TikTok and Instagram for her lip-sync and dance videos. To date, she has over 7.5 million followers on Instagram and 11 million on TikTok. According to reports, before becoming an internet personality, she was a low-paid restaurant waitress. Getting fired from this job ultimately led to her becoming an OnlyFans model, some reports said. Despite her career on the adult platform, Sophie Rain claims to be a virgin who was brought up by devout Christians, reports said. This has been a key part of her public persona and has drawn both support and criticism.
Rain was a co-founder of Miami's "Bop House" – an OnlyFans creator collective. The idea was to collaborate on content and cross-promote across social platforms, based out of a Fort Lauderdale mansion. However, the collective was short-lived as Rain announced her decision to move out of "Bop House" to focus on solo content not long after it was launched in December 2024. While details remain under wraps, the star cited a "major falling out" with a fellow creator as the reason for bailing out.
