Five Chinese and a Pakistani national were killed on Tuesday in a suicide bomb attack in Pakistan's Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. According to officials, an explosive vehicle rammed into their bus injuring many others as well.

The Chinese were working on the Dasu hydropower project, said officials.

No group has claimed responsibility so far for the attack.

Police said that the incident occurred in the Bisham area of Shangla district of the province when a bus en route from Islamabad to Kohistan was hit by a vehicle coming from the opposite direction.

The investigation is ongoing and the authorities concerned were collecting the evidence, said Bisham Station House Officer (SHO) Bakht Zahir, reported The Dawn.

"We will investigate from where and how the vehicle of a suicide bomber came and how it happened," the SHO said.

Shangla is close to Kohistan, where 13 people including nine Chinese were killed in a terrorist attack in 2021.

China's embassy in Pakistan condemned the 'terrorist act' and expressed deep condolences to the victims. China demanded investigations into the attack that killed the Chinese nationals working on a dam project.

"The Chinese embassy and consulates in Pakistan have immediately launched emergency work, demanding that the Pakistani side conduct a thorough investigation into the attack, severely punish the perpetrators, and take practical and effective measures to protect the safety of Chinese citizens," the embassy said in a statement.

Under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project, many Chinese personnel are working in Pakistan on various projects.
