After US-UK airstrikes on Yemen has endangered all maritime navigation, said Hezbollah on Sunday.
While calling the strikes as an “act of stupidity”, Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said the Houthis would continue targeting ships belonging to Israel and going to its ports in the Red Sea.
“The more dangerous thing is what the Americans did in the Red Sea will harm all maritime navigation, even the ships that are not going to Palestine, even the ships which are not Israeli, even the ships that have nothing to do with the matter, because the sea has become a theatre of fighting, missiles, drones and war ships. Security has been disrupted," Nasrallah was quoted by Reuters.
Since the Israel-Hamas war started after the October 7 attacks, border tensions escalated with Lebanon. Israel and Hezbollah have been targeting each other’s regions. In its latest attacks, a missile from Lebanon had killed two people in northern Israel, said reports.
China calls for an end to attacks in Red Sea
Meanwhile, China Foreign Minister, Wang Yi called for an end to the attacks on the ships in the Red Sea.
Wang was speaking at a press conference in Cairo after meeting Egypt’s president, Abdel Fatah al-Sisi. "The situation in the Red Sea has escalated sharply recently and China is deeply concerned about this,” he said.
“China calls for a halt to the harassment and attacks on civilian ships and for the maintenance of the smooth flow of global industrial and supply chains and the international trade order," said Wang.
He also said adding of fuel to the existing tensions in the Red Sea should be avoided.
Further, the two nations expressed concerns over the expansion of the conflict in the region.
According to the health ministry, the death toll in Gaza reached 23,968. In the past 24 hours, 125 Palestinians were killed and 265 were injured, the ministry added.
As the war passes 100 days, communication and internet services were down for the third day running in Gaza, complicating the work of emergency and ambulance crews trying to help people in areas hit by fighting.
Israel’s ground troops mainly targeted southern city of Khan Younis, Al-Bureij and Al Maghazi in central Gaza. Israeli army claimed that they had killed several militants in central Gaza.
While talking about the war, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh said, "We are not seekers of wars. We are seekers of freedom.” He also added that Hamas attack was, in part, a response to the years-long Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip.
According to the Israeli military, the new phase of the war focused on the southern end of the territory, where almost 2 million people are now sheltering.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu once again brushed off calls for a ceasefire, and said Israel will keep going until it achieves complete victory over Hamas.
