A video has gone viral on the internet in which an Australian was forced to fist-fight an adult kangaroo that was holding his pet dog hostage in a water body. The man was forced to engage the "seven-foot-tall" wild animal as his dog was getting 'drowned' by it. The viral video was reportedly shot somewhere in Murray River in Australia's Victoria.

"This guy filmed himself in an Australian river trying to get a 7-foot Kangaroo to get off of his dog, which was having trouble breathing. As the guy heads into the water you can hear him say " “I’m going to punch you f*****g head in. Let my dog go”. I'm happy to report that the man, the dog and the kangaroo made it through this event fairly unharmed. This video was uploaded by the Mildura Martial Arts school in Victoria," a verified X (formerly Twitter) handle that shared the viral video jotted.

Originally uploaded on TikTok, the video of the "man vs kangaroo" was seen by over 10 million people on X alone.

According to reports, the protagonist of the video is a martial artist, who set out in search of his missing pet. He was shocked to find his canine struggling to breathe in the clutches of a mighty kangaroo. To make things worse, the kangaroo had dragged the canine into the river! With just its head above the water, the dog was clearly struggling to breathe, the video showed.

It is possible that the dog chased the wild animal towards the riverside and got dragged to the water body by the latter in an act of self-defence.

The man for forced to enter the river and approach the intimidating beast. As the man slowly made his way towards the animals, the kangaroo was seen letting the dog go before taking a swing at the man with its sharp claws.

The video then goes black for a while presumably because the man couldn't shoot with the kangaroo to deal with.

Sounds of struggle including water splashing and the man cursing can be heard before the video reappears. The dog is seen waiting for its master on the shore while the macropod refuses to leave the river. The tall, muscular animal looks intimidating -- revealing the risk the man took to get his dog released.
