Ukraine launched missile strikes on three gas rigs of Russia in Crimea, Russian officials said.

Sergey Aksyonov, head of occupied Crimea said, “Seven people were missing and three injured after the strikes. A rescue operation with the participation of patrol ships and aviation was underway”, The Guardian quoted him saying.

Ukraine launched missile strikes on three gas rigs in the Black Sea, south of Odesa. The rigs were seized by Russia from Ukraine in 2014. The publication reported that an attack on the platforms would represent a further attempt by Ukraine to reach into the Black Sea, coming three days after it said it had destroyed a Russian tugboat near Snake Island using western Harpoon missiles.

Ukrinform reported Ukraine forces have launched an attack on Chornomornaftogaz’s drilling rigs in Crimea. Ukrainian Member of Parliament Oleksii Honcharenko said on social media that Ukraine’s missile strike on the drilling rigs slightly hindered Russia’s gas production in Ukraine’s Black Sea.
