Chinese Defence Minister General Wei Fenghea addressing at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore said the two nations are working together for peace along the Line of Actual Control.

Responding to a question at the summit, Wei said that China and India are neighbours and maintaining a good relationship meets the interests of both countries. That is what we are working on, he stressed, PTI reported.

The minister on the conflict on LAC said, “We have had 15 rounds of talks at commander level with the Indians and we are working together for peace in this area,” PTI quoted him as saying.

The publication reported that each side currently has around 50,000 to 60,000 troops along the LAC in the sensitive sector. India has been consistently maintaining that peace and tranquillity along the LAC were key for the overall development of the bilateral ties.

The Chinese minister lashed out against US in his address and alleged that US was trying to hijack the support of countries in the Asia-Pacific region to turn them against Beijing. He alleged that Washington is seeking to advance its own interests under the guise of multilateralism.
