Israeli Airlines flights to Dubai might be halted from February 8, the Israeli government said on Sunday. An Israeli official told Reuters that current security arrangements for three Israeli airlines that fly into Dubai International Airport - El Al, Israir and Arkia - were due to expire on Tuesday. Negotiators had 48 hours to find a solution.

Shin Bet security service told Hareetz, that disagreements have surfaced between the parties in recent months “in a manner that does not allow Israeli aviation security to fulfil its responsibilities.”

After the two countries formalised their ties in 2020, direct flights from Israel to the United Arab Emirates began. Thousands of Israelis have visited the Gulf state since then.

Since Emirati state carrier Flydubai provides direct flights to Tel Aviv, it stands to benefit if Israeli carriers quit flying to Dubai.
