A protestor at the Capitol Hill was shot as US President Donald Trump supporters stormed in on Wednesday, seeking to overturn the November 3 election results. The womanwho was fatally shot was Ashli Babbitt, who served in the United States Air Force.

“The woman is Ashli Babbitt, a 14-year veteran, who served four tours with the US Air Force,” San Diego TV station KUSI reported. “She was a strong supporter of President Trump.”

TV channel Fox 5 reported Babbitt owned a business in San Diego with her husband, who did not come with her to Washington.

Protestors clashed with the police at Capitol Hill and were smashing windows when Babbitt got shot in her chest.

“I really don’t know why she decided to do this,” her mother-in-law said.

On her Twitter account, Babbitt has identified herself as a veteran with a love for her country. Babbitt’s recent tweets were in support of Trump. Her last tweet was, “Nothing will stop us….” The tweet is no longer shown on her timeline.

Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, called the protestors ‘American patriots’ in a tweet on Wednesday.

“American Patriots — any security breach or disrespect to our law enforcement is unacceptable. The violence must stop immediately. Please be peaceful,” she wrote. However, she has since deleted the tweet, and clarified that “peaceful protest is patriotic”.

The president’s daughter is said to have political ambitions and hopes to run for the office in 2024.
