Over a month since the results of the US Presidential Election became clear, Russian President Vladimir Putin has issued his congratulations to Joe Biden for his victory, after the US Electoral College officially confirmed him as President-Elect.

In his message, Vladimir Putin “wished the President-elect every success and expressed confidence that Russia and the United States, which bear special responsibility for global security and stability, can, despite their differences, effectively contribute to solving many problems and meeting challenges that the world is facing today,” the Kremlin said in a statement.

“The President of Russia noted that with this in mind, Russian-American cooperation, based on the principles of equality and mutual respect, would meet the interests of both nations and the entire international community,” it added.

“For my part, I am ready for interaction and contacts with you,” Putin stressed.

Putin’s congratulations is the last of the world’s great powers to come for President Trump: China, with whom Trump had a mostly antagonistic relationship, issued its own congratulations on November 25.

However, while the leaders of the world have almost universally accepted Biden as the next US President, the incumbent leader remains in denial. On Monday, President Trump continued to tweet and retweet his now legally-void claims of having won the election.

“Election Status: Trump is in the process of proving he won, and Biden is pretending he did,” read a tweet by one Twitter user that Trump retweeted.

The President’s denial of Biden’s win comes even after the Supreme Court refused to hear his legal team’s petitions to overturn election results in battleground states he lost. On Saturday, several Trump’s supporters in Washington took out a rally in support of his claim to the election. The rally turned violent after thye engaged in brawls with counter-protesters, which included members of Antifa.

Trump’s supporters have increasingly raised the rhetoric of what they would be willing to do once legal alternatives are exhausted.

“People are upset, and they have a right to be. Georgia not only supported Trump in 2016, but now. This is the only State in the Deep South that went for Biden? Have they lost their minds? This is going to escalate dramatically. This is a very dangerous moment in our history,” Trump tweeted on December 10, “quoting” a supporter from a Georgia Rally who reportedly spoke to OANN news.
