450 residents of an apartment complex in Grevenbroich in western Germany are being tested. Authorities were compelled to make the move after members of two families infected with coronavirus failed to follow quarantine.

The grounds surrounding the complex was fenced off over the weekend and security was put in place to make sure that residents leave only after the test results are out.

Around 117 residents were tested as of on Sunday.

Eight people from two families who had tested positive had continued to see neighbours and been outside the building. It is, however, not clear that other residents in the building were aware that these families were supposed to be in quarantine.

Members of the infected families have been taken to another location so that officials can ensure that they follow their quarantine.

On Monday, Germany welcomed a plane from China bringing urgent medical supplies. The plane 10,000,000 protective face masks arrived at Leipzig/Halle airport.

The flight by the Antonov-225 was made possible by the NATO-supported Strategic Airlift International Solution (SALIS). Two more flights with 14,900,000 protective face masks expected to arrive in Germany
