Tensions between the US and Iran, it looks like are at its peak. The country's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has said that Iran must retaliate directly for General Soleimani's assassination.

He also hinted that the attack should be a military one as opposed to proxies used to attack targets since the establishment of the Islamic Republic in 1979.

“We are ready to take a fierce revenge against America,” Revolutionary Guard General Hamid Sarkheili said at Soleimani’s funeral procession that was attended by thousands.

Iran has a military presence in the Persian Gulf and in Iraq and Syria. This means they can launch attacks on US military bases in these regions with ease.

Khamenei, on Monday, wept openly over Soleimani's coffin. Soleimani's funeral videos show the crowd chanting, “No negotiations or deal, only war with America.”

As per analysts, when previous direct strikes with military forces by Iran on have failed, they have turned to the simpler tactic of killing civilians with bombs.

The US, in the meantime, added to the mayhem by accidentally releasing a draft letter that would imminently mean calling American troops from Iraq back to the US.

The House Congress is currently planning to pass a resolution to curb Trump's war powers and subsequently prevent further military action on Iran.
