Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday continued his government's approach of scaremongering on the issue of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. The day after the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill was passed by the Lok Sabha, Imran had claimed the move was "part of the RSS Hindu rashtra design of expansion propagated by the fascist Modi government".

Imran has frequently reiterated his government's opposition to the Narendra Modi government's decision in August to abrogate provisions of Article 370 of the Constitution and the continuing security clampdown in Jammu and Kashmir.

On Thursday, in a series of tweets, Imran went further, drawing comparisons liberally between India and Nazi Germany and referring to the spectre of all-out war.

Imran charged, “India, under Modi, has been moving systematically with its Hindu Supremacist agenda. Starting with illegal annexation & continuing siege of IOJK; then stripping 2 mn Indian Muslim in Assam of citizenship, setting up internment camps; now the passage of Citizenship Amendment Law.”

Imran then referred to the mob lynchings and treatment of minorities in India in two follow-up tweets.

He wrote, “All this accompanied by mob lynchings of Muslims & other minorities in India. World must realise, as appeasement of the genocidal Supremacist agenda of Nazi Germany eventually led to WWII, Modi's Hindu Supremacist agenda, accompanied by threats to Pak under a nuclear overhang,...

will lead to massive bloodshed & far-reaching consequences for the world. As in Nazi Germany, in Modi's India dissent has been marginalised & the world must step in before it is too late, to counter this Hindu Supremacist agenda of Modi's India threatening bloodshed & war.”

Since the abrogation of Article 370, Imran Khan has frequently attempted to draw parallels between the RSS-BJP and the Nazis. During his speech at the UN General Assembly in late September, Imran claimed the RSS was akin to the Nazis who believed in ethnic cleansing.

Imran has also referred to Modi as a fascist previously. In August, Imran had tweeted, “The fascist, Hindu Supremacist Modi Govt should know that while armies, militants & terrorists can be defeated by superior forces; history tells us that when a nation unites in a freedom struggle & does not fear death, no force can stop it from achieving its goal.”
