Carlos Silver from the Dominican Republic broke a Guinness World Record on Wednesday by singing continuously for 106 hours.

Cheered on by crowds in the Eugenio Maria de Hostos Park in the capital, Santo Domingo, Silver was hoarse-voiced as he thanked his fans for their support.

Following the confirmation of his new record by an announcer, a clearly fatigued Silver was helped off the stage of his 'glass box' studio and into the awaiting crowd.

This is the second attempt at the record by the 46-year-old, after an abandoned attempt in 2016.

The previous record was set by Sunil Waghmare of India in 2012 at 105 hours exactly.
