With the White House kitchen staff on leave owing to the partial government shutdown, President Trump ordered pizzas, whoopers and fries for dinner while hosting college football champions. The dinner, which usually would have been a banquet, was in honour of the Clemson Tigers University players' national championship win.

Trump tweeted, “Great being with the National Champion Clemson Tigers last night at the White House. Because of the Shutdown I served them massive amounts of Fast Food (I paid), over 1000 hamburgers etc. Within one hour, it was all gone. Great guys and big eaters!”

Due to the longest ever shutdown that has lasted over four weeks, 80,000 federal employees are on leave. And this includes the staff at the White House kitchen, who worked for 24 days before going on mandatory leave. Unfortunately for the president, their absence coincided with the White House hosting the Clemson Tigers. And so he went ahead and ordered burgers and fries from McDonald's and Wendy's and pizzas from Dominos. It was an “all-American dinner,” Trump said. The spread included chicken wings, chicken mcnuggets and salads all neatly spread out in silver platters along with tiny packet condiments.

The president himself is a fan of fast food and is known to eat McDonald's burgers for dinner. His favourite order is two Big Macs, two Filet-o-Fish sandwiches and a large chocolate shake. Other billionaires who favour junk food include Warren Buffet who eats Mc Donald's every day, Bill Gates and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
