Continuing the impressive performance at the Asian Games 2026, India's mixed 4x400m relay team won its third consecutive medal by securing a silver. The feat highlighted yet another significant achievement to its recent international track-and-field campaign.
The quartet of TS Manu, MR Poovamma, Vishal TK and Vithya Ramraj clocked 3 minutes 14.46 seconds to finish behind Bahrain who took the gold with a Games record time of 3:12.87.
"We were expecting a gold. But of course, Bahrain, we were expecting a tough fight. But we all ran really good," Poovamma said to PTI. "So, in the women's 400 relay, we want to win a gold, change the color of the medal."
Meanwhile, Seema Kumari grabbed a landmark bronze for the country in the women's 10,000m final. She clinched the medal for the country after 16 years, making it a remarkable feat.
PM Modi tweeted a congratulatory message for the long-distance runner. "Proud of Seema on winning the Bronze Medal in the Women's 10,000m at the Asian Games! Congrats to her.
