Jude Bellingham injury: Will Brahim Diaz shelf deadline day Real Madrid transfer plan?

"Following tests carried out today (Sunday) on our player Jude Bellingham by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the semitendinosus muscle in his left leg. Awaiting evolution," Real Madrid said on Sunday

Italy's Como and England's Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, and Aston Villa are the teams interested in Real Madrid attacker Brahim Díaz after a reported deadline day change in the player's availability. Díaz is once again going through the options before him as he is facing heavy competition for regular game time at the Santiago Bernabéu.

The Moroccan international has reportedly been advised that if he has made up his mind, he should opt for a Premier League side, as he is more likely to play in his preferred attacking role regularly.

England is viewed as the preferred destination should a winter move materialise, largely due to the promise of regular minutes and a more defined attacking role. Newcastle United are more likely to seal a deal with him than other English clubs as things stand, the report said, as he is best suited for the club's project. At the moment, the club can make the most of his capability to operate on the wings, as a second striker, as well as an AMF (Attacking Midfielder). His technical skill set is also the kind that meets Eddie Howe's needs, the report said.

Spurs, meanwhile, think the 26-year-old could be Son Heung-min's successor, helping Randal Kolo Muani, Dominic Solanke, and Xavi Simons in the attacking department.

Will Real Madrid sell Diaz?

Real Madrid know that their title challenge is far from over and Díaz could be an asset in the second half of the season. However, Los Blancos may consider letting him leave if the suitors are willing to spend no less than €60 million on the AFCON top scorer, CaughtOffside said in a report. As things stand, a deadline transfer cannot be entirely ruled out as Díaz wants to continue his "purple patch" that was on display in the continental tournament.

It also needs to be noted that Jude Bellingham injured his left hamstring and had to be replaced 10 minutes into Real Madrid's home game against Rayo Vallecano in the Spanish league. Madrid did not provide a timetable for his recovery, but Spanish media said the England international is not likely to be fit for the knockout phase against Benfica in the Champions League.

Brahim Díaz may ultimately decide to stay if Bellingham's absence means he will have to step up to play a bigger role in the team's campaign. Against their local rivals, it was Díaz who replaced the Englishman and provided an assist five minutes later for Vinícius Júnior's goal, which made it 1-0 for Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. He also prompted the penalty call that led to Kylian Mbappé's winner 10 minutes into second-half stoppage time.
