Florian Wirtz is struggling to live up to expectations at Liverpool, and the German may get to relaunch his career on home soil with Bayern Munich. The Bavarians loved what Wirtz did for Bayer Leverkusen and are still interested in signing him, club insiders have reportedly revealed.

Wirtz is said to have held talks with Bayern Munich and Liverpool before ultimately deciding to join the latter in 2025. It is said that he decided to leave behind his comfort zone for England as he was convinced by then-Liverpool gaffer Arne Slot's project. But he never found his feet at Anfield and may ultimately decide to look for a new challenge with Bayern, the reports said.

But what makes the development even more interesting is the fact that Liverpool may get an equally exciting star in exchange for Wirtz. Michael Olise, arguably the best attacker in the world, is said to be the star who would be included in the swap deal by the Bundesliga side! However, multiple reports claim that the said deal has a long way to go.

Jamal Musiala's constant injury concerns have affected his growth—meaning Olise often plays a more central role. Thus, unless the 24-year-old demands an exit, it is unlikely that Vincent Kompany will let him go.

While Wirtz is contracted by the Reds until 2030, Frenchman Olise's current deal runs out in 2029. The former's current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be around €100 million, while the in-form Olise's is at €170 million.

"...if Florian Wirtz were, at some point in future, interested in making a return to the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich would be the first team he’d talk to. However, there is nothing planned,” TeamTalk quoted a Bayern Munich source as saying.

“Everyone is hoping the former Crystal Palace star signs a new contract, but if not, and he decides on a transfer, of course Florian Wirtz would be a player who’s interesting for Bayern Munich.

“The German can play on the wing or centrally. This would be a very interesting move, and if you make a swap deal with Liverpool or sell Olise for a lot of money to Real Madrid, you have the money to make an offer for Wirtz," he reportedly added.

Liverpool have made an inconsistent start to the Premier League season under Andoni Iraola, with his side drawing three of their opening four league matches despite a Champions League victory over Atlético Madrid. Bayern Munich, meanwhile, are currently fourth domestically after four rounds.
