If 2025 was a roller-coaster ride for India in men's cricket, 2026 could be a few notches higher. Winning the Champions Trophy and Asia Cup were two major achievements in 2025 but losing at home to South Africa was an embarrassment. In between, the 2-2 draw in England was a fair achievement, given that the side was in transition mode due to multiple retirements of senior players.
Meanwhile, in T20Is, India continued to be on a roll, as they won bilateral series against Australia and South Africa apart from the Asia Cup glory in UAE. The shortest format continues to be India's main strength even as they gear up to plan towards the 2027 ODI World Cup. Test cricket, though, is where they have a lot of work to do through a transitioning side.
