Delhi and Tamil Nadu played out a historic thriller in their 2025 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy fixture in Ahmedabad on Friday (November 28). The high-scoring game went right down to the wire and with two needed off the final ball, Delhi managed to achieve the feat to seal a famous victory.
Veteran Himmat Singh, who is part of Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL, smashed Gurjapneet Singh (who represents CSK in the IPL) for a last-ball six to clinch victory from the jaws of defeat. However, it was almost a catch as Shahrukh Khan at deep point nearly took the catch, only for it to clear him for a six. Chasing a stiff target of 199, Delhi's openers gave them the perfect platform through a 52-run stand off just 33 deliveries.

Priyansh Arya (35 off 15) was the dominant partner in that stand while Yash Dhull (71 off 46) steadily upped the ante himself after getting set. Dhull had partnerships of 58 with skipper Nitish Rana (34 off 26) and 61 with Ayush Badoni (41 off 23) as Delhi were in cruise control for most parts of the chase.
Tamil Nadu's trump card Varun Chakaravarthy had a horror game as he conceded 47 off his quota of four overs without a single wicket to show. However, TN stayed in the game and when Badoni fell in the 19th over, 12 runs were still needed to win in the final over to be bowled by Gurjapneet.
The tall left-arm seamer conceded 10 runs in his first five balls, which meant that a brace was required off the final ball. Himmat held his nerve as he belted Gurjapneet for a six to seal the deal.
