Message for the Indian team from Lara: "Tremendous England series. The trophy was back in England's hand, but you saw the last Test match. Whatever is happening in that dressing room [is great]. My message to Gill and team is to continue to follow in the footsteps [of previous captains] and follow the discipline."

"There was sheer desperation to win. We had come so close in semifinals and finals. In 2015, 2019 and the WTC. It was just about crossing that line. People got hungrier. We all came together and did things slightly differently. When you see results when there is a change in the mindset, we started feeling good about ourselves. We did slightly uncomfortable things which were needed from the team."

"I love that team, it's a journey of many years. It was about getting into work for many years. We've come so close, but couldn't get over the line. We needed to do something different. It cannot be done by one or two players; everyone has to buy into that. Everyone got into that thought process. We had to challenge ourselves and not be complacent. We had to do that repeatedly. We set out to do something in that 2023 World Cup, but one game went against us. We didn't do much wrong. We wanted to continue from where we left."
